It's Pinkerbell !

Heather Morris (Pinkerbell2 on deviantArt, Pinkerbell on Purestorm) is a British model who has made a name for herself as an art nude and fetish model ever since she was discovered two years ago, at the age of thirty -six (yes, there is scope for women over thirty to model if they have the necessary talent).Since then she has gone from strength to strength, having worked with some of the best photographers in UK, from Mark Varley (contributing artist) for whom she has been a Muse from the beginning of her career to the great  China Hamilton.

I have interviewed her for UdA.

Heather in her own words

"The Fragile" by Mark Varley

I consider myself among the luckiest people in the world to be doing something I love so much for a living. I fell into it almost by accident nearly two years ago after a lingering illness meant I had to resign from my position as a PA and I needed something flexible to allow me to return to full-time work at my own pace. Those plans to return to a 'proper job' are now on indefinite hold! My ever so slightly frivolous working name Pinkerbell was a nickname long before I started modelling. It was given to me by my rather lovely Mother-in-Law after a Ladies' night event where my ballgown left a trail of glitter wherever I went!

(Editor's note: Pinkerbell according to
Urban Dictionary is a very sexy girl who likes pink and loves the 8o's. Maybe she meant Tinkerbell? Smiles.)

My favourite pictures

"The zen of anger" by Mark Varley

One of my very first bookings was with Mark Varley and one of my all time favourites; "Zen of Anger" was from that first shoot. The concept was Mark's idea and as he directed me into position, he managed to capture my expression, just as I 'got' the joke!

(Editor's note: I love this picture myself so much so that I tried to copy it in a recent shoot)

"Thirteen" by China Hamilton

This is my favourite image from an exceptionally intense shoot with the wonderful China Hamilton

"Rhodes 4" by Art Zilio

I have been drawn to architectural ruins since I was a child, so an opportunity to shoot with Art Zilio in Rhodes was a dream come true.

On my return from Rhodes, I opened my dA mail to find this one had received a Daily Deviation!

"Reclined" by KL Photography

(Editor's note: a Daily Deviation is an image chosen by devianArt admin to showcase to the membership. It usually receives many hits and comments and gets the selected member in the spotlight)

"Creation" by Mark Varley

I've always posed instinctively, but on seeing this photograph, it dawned on me that a childhood obsession with classical art and sculpture had provided a solid grounding. This particular image was unintentionally inspired by Michelangelo's Creation of Adam

"Alabaster" by Dingo Dave

Experimenting with infra-red photography with Dave Ellis working with and exploring a new medium was really energising, creatively speaking, and is an area we definitely want to develop further.

"Tempest" by Mark Varley

"Tempest" was shot at a beautiful little ruined church just down the road from me. The trip was only really meant to be a quick 'recce' as the weather was unpredictable at best, but wild horses couldn't have dragged me down from that alcove once I'd set eyes on it!

"Human Geometry" from an exciting shoot with Rod Scivyer spent dodging dog-walkers along the canals of Nothamptonshire! The lock gates are a wonderful example of the beauty and functionality typical of the craftsmanship during the industrial revolution. I wish I could say I had thought of using the footholds this way, but it was Rod who asked me to curve myself along them to get this image.

"Human geometry" by Rod Scivyer

"Aurous" by Mark Varley

"Aurous" was the perfect end to a perfect day! At this point in the evening, Mark Varley and I were both exhausted and exhilarated, having spent a good 10 hours exploring and shooting. We didn't quite make it till sunset, so this was the last shot of the day.

Thank you Heather for allowing me to interview you. Wishing you all the very best with your modelling, I am sure you will have more and more images you will be proud of.

Tansy-Blue: it's all about taking risks.

The minimum age for art nude models is eighteen. Anyone under eighteen is a child and cannot be photographed without clothes on.

UdA welcomes a model who turned eighteen only a few months ago and has already dozens and dozens of shoots under her belt.

Based in London, still studying for her A' levels, Tansy-Blue has also a great talent for writing and her journals on deviantArt have quite a following.

Tansy is proof that modelling without an agency and operating solely through the internet works well.

By Hugh Alison

She joined Purestorm on 26th January 2011 and she already has at least forty-four references left by the many photographers she has worked with, all very positive. Each one praises her for her enthusiasm and for her keen interest in art nude photography.

Tansy does not rely on looks alone, it is her intelligence and determination to make a good image that make her stand out.

Neither petite nor tall and leggy, Tansy is a full figured art model able to demonstrate great flexibility and agility. There are hundreds of (in modelling terms) classically beautiful, slender eighteen year olds. Tansy is different and quite unique.

I have asked her, on behalf of UdA, to tell us her story and talk to us about her favourite images.

How I began

by Bill Morton "Chair"

When I was about 14 years old I discovered art. I'd always had a passing interest in it but I was too scared of being mocked by my peers if I expressed this interest. Then, by chance, I discovered deviantART, and thought it was awesome. I began to spend a lot of time browsing, discovering artworks in a wide variety of styles. At first I was mainly interested in cartoon wolves and horses, but eventually my interests began to sway towards photography in general, and towards fine art nude photography.

by Simon Richardson

Mosh was the first model who introduced me to the concept of a model as more than a prop, a model as an essential part of the creative team. Eventually, I realised that I wanted this role in the creative team (as well as holding the camera, which I do on occasion; though I'm currently on a photography break and rarely identify myself as a photographer). I wanted to be an enabling force that allows photographers to create the images in their minds. I wanted to create shapes and poses and arrange myself in front of the light in such a way that the photographer cannot fail but make something beautiful.

I started modelling when I was 17, with my parents' consent, as a life model, at a special event for new models at the Hesketh Hubbard Art Society (where I now pose regularly). Through a couple of lucky breaks, I landed a few photosessions as well, enabling me to sign up to Purestorm and Model Mayhem very soon after my 18th birthday. Plenty of photographers messaged me - and it went from there.

My favourite photographs.
There are quite a few images for which I modelled that I truly love. Here is a selection.

"Escape 2"
by Akif Hakan Celebi (former contributing artist of UdA)

This is from my first shoot with the incomparable Akif Hakan Celebi, whose work I truly admired. I was thrilled to have a chance to shoot with him. He was the first photographer I shot with, and the experience was invaluable in my development as a model. He taught me important lessons about what is and isn't normal on a shoot, and impressed upon me the importance of stringent reference checks. Thanks Hakan, you taught me so much in such a short space of time; I will never forget shooting with you or the importance of my safety.

by Simon Richardson
"Swinging"

This is from an early shoot. It's an example of what has become my signature style (if I can be said to have a signature style!) - bendy, athletic art nude, and a willingness to take risks.

by Pierus "Sequence"

This series of images is special to me because it's the only nude images of me that my mother has seen, not considered porn, and even liked. Living with my parents as a young art nude model causes plenty of conflicts; it's not always easy, and I wish my mother felt this way about all my work.

by Sean Buckley "Untitled"

I remember feeling very ill on the day this was shot. I asked for breaks extremely frequently and just was'nt up for much. And yet I managed to help the photographer achieve this shot, which is both in my portfolio and his.

by Gdelargy "Serenity and Turbulence"

Again with the risk taking! This is a very recent image that I'm extremely proud of. It is not perfect by a long shot (no pun!) but I'm so proud of myself for overcoming cold, damp, danger, and general discomfort/fear to get it. There are several imperfections in the pose I could point out to you - but I'm too proud of myself for sitting on a rock in a plunge pool, holding my own against the force of the water on my back , to be worried about them.

by Adrian Hexter "TansyBlue 08"

Yet another risk taking image . I set this image up myself. I basically said to Adrian "Okay, stand here, I'm going to pose there, I want you to zoom out and show me tiny against the cliff face". I also lost my glasses while doing this and had to go home from Wales on the train blind, which was quite an adventure. It's a story telling image to me.

By Adrian Hexter "Tansy Blue 06"

I am so proud of myself in this image. This is a pose I have seen done by several art nude models whom I greatly admire and respect; it took me months to figure out how to do it myself and when I did I was very excited.

By Hugh Alison "Tansy"

This image was an utter bitch to get. We drove for about 90 minutes across one of the emptiest parts of Britain while I snoozed in the back of the car )and got dribbled on by his adorable weimaraner). Then got out, spent less than 10 minutes naked in the freezing wind (me, not him!), took two good shots, and go straight back in the car. It was great, a really condensed quick shooting. I like shooting under unusual conditions and in a short period of time.

by Lee Brown "Untitled"

I am throwing this image out there for no other reason than that I really like it and you can barely see me. Images like this reassure me that modelling is'nt just about ego boosting. I love to create images like this, in which I am utterly anonymous and it is pure line and shape. My identity is irrelevant

There are other images I feel very proud to have been part of, such as those taken by the talented Neil Huxtable, of which unfortunately I do not have suitable copies. But they can be seen in the photographer's online portfolios (Editor's note: you can view them here and here). Hopefully, as I continue in my modelling there will be more images to come.

Indeed, Tansy. In just under a year you seem to have achieved so much. The sky is your limit. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to interview you and wishing you all the very best in your chosen career.

Konstantin Alexandroff

Konstantin Alexandroff (MrKostas on deviantArt), from Russia, is a talented young photographer who dreams of being a rock star and while he pursues his dream, he produces stunning images.

"She and her darkness"

Let's learn more about him in his own words:

I was born and raised in Moscow. I guess I had a pretty normal childhood but I was a strong introvert so communication with other people wasn't easy or necessary at all. I was always focused on something beyond usual people's interests. I was drawn to maths, physics, cosmology, chemistry, psycholohy, philosophy etc. And I still am. When I turned 18, I began to become more interested in the arts, I started to play in a band as a guitarist, got some tattoos and grew long hair. Before I was 23 or so, I don't think I ever held a camera in my hands. Then I bought some crappy compact Olympus and I pretty much enjoyed working with it, people called me to parties to take pictures which was nice too. Then I switched to the cheapest DSLR and realized all the potential of photography to express my thoughts.

My philosophy

As a photographer I've chosen artistic nude as my favourite genre for different reasons. First of all, I'm endlessly fascinated by female beauty and the power it has over people's mind. But my works are almost never "erotic", they always have some special meaning not everyone even attempts to think of. I don't mind this at all, I never try to explain what I do. Some people have their own interpretation and that's great too. My thoughts are rarely happy, my mind's dark and lonely and all of this bleeds into my art in a symbolic form. Which, in turn, gives more sense to my life and even gives me new thoughts and ideas. Everything is connected.

I have asked Konstantin to choose some of his favourite shots:

Now, regarding the pictures I've chosen. Here's some of my comments bearing in mind that I don't feel comfortable talking about how to interpret them, my words should not be taken too seriously

"Nuit"

I was always a fan of Egyptian mythology and this is kind of a tribute to that passion. A quote I like: "...Nut was the goddess of the sky and all heavenly bodies, a symbol of resurrection and rebirth. According to the Egyptians, during the day, the heavenly bodies—such as the sun and moon—would make their way across her body. Then, at dusk, they would be swallowed, pass through her
digestive system during the night, and be reborn out of her uterus at dawn, the red streaks in the sky symbolizing the blood and fluid passed at birth

"Storm"

Hard to pick the right words to describe it. But the contrast between soft and curvy lines of body with cruel environment and with lots of empty space, all of this makes it beautiful to me.

"Place called home"

This is about my (and anyone's) true home. Which is not where my family is or where I live. It's definitely in my mind, and it's always deserted, always hard and twisted. Though I wouldn't look as good naked as she does

"Belle Morte"

She looks like a doll, she's passive and very appealing. One of the simplest but visually (near-)perfect pictures of mine.

"Panic Room"

Again, something about inner self, hiding in the dark but actually very exposed and vulnerable. Also a technical experiment with film format.

"Rising tide"

The combination of different elements and high contrast again. Never tried to explain this one to myself, so cannot comment further.

"Embrace of shade"

This one is about the feeling of being buried under dark thoughts.

"Abyss becomes you"

I think that Nietzsche explained it well: "When you look into an abyss, the abyss also looks into you"

"Stigmata Diaboli"

Blood is a very strong symbol. And it was shed for far too many symbols and abstract ideas.

Thank you Konstantin for your wonderful work. We hope to see more of it in future.
